The Malta Cultural Institute’s sixth concert this season will be featuring female performers of all ages in honour of International Women’s Day on Sunday.

First on the programme in the concert is a very promising eight-year-old pianist, Daphne Delicata. Daphne is already making a name for herself in the musical world, having won prizes in various piano competitions in Malta and abroad. She also studies classical ballet and sings in a baroque choir. Daphne is making her debut on the MCI platform.

Natalie Cachia Bonavia, another performer, is an established clarinet player who is in great demand with local bands and orchestras. She will be accompanied by pianist Lara Scerri as she plays music by Astor Piazzolla, Robert Schumann and Johann Sebastian Bach.

The vocal recital will feature soprano Claire Caruana, who will be accompanied on the piano by Romina Morrow. Among other pieces Caruana will be singing excerpts from opera and operetta and also well-known sacred music by Albert Malotte and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. At the end of her recital, Caruana will be joined by Cachia Bonavia in a voice, clarinet and piano trio.

Guests are asked to make a small donation at the door, which will help to cover some of the expenses of the evening.

• The concert is being held at Le Méridien St Julian’s Hotel & Spa on Sunday at 7pm. More information may be obtained by e-mail: maltacultinst@gmail.com or by calling 2133 8923 or 9980 0409.
