The University of Malta has signed an agreement with parliamentary secretary for active aging Justyne Caruana to train some 340 nurses who work in care homes for older people and in the community.

The training programmes aim to develop an advanced understanding of multidisciplinary perspectives on ageing and dementia studies, and represent a valuable contribution to the development of dementia care knowledge and practice among nurses in Malta.

Dr Caruana said the training aimed to reach the latest standards and measures to ensure a top-notch service for older persons with dementia to live a dignified and meaningful life.

The University’s Faculty for Social Wellbeing will also be organising the training of staff working within the disability field, including KNPD Services.
