Local Councils Minister Owen Bonnici said in Parliament that difficulties were being encountered in accommodating the Valletta local council’s offices in some other part of the city.

Answering a supplementary question from Opposition MP David Agius, Dr Bonnici said the council’s request for new offices had been made conditionally – on them being as close as possible to the city’s surviving population.

The council had turned down an offer of space in the rehabilitated Fort St Elmo.
