Brown: Sunderland defender Wes Brown’s red card against his former club Manchester United on Saturday has been overturned. Brown was dismissed by referee Roger East after trying to tackle striker Radamel Falcao in the area, although TV replays suggested team-mate John O’Shea had committed the foul which led to United’s penalty. Sunderland appealed on the grounds of wrongful dismissal.

Stindl: Hanover midfielder Lars Stindl has been given an additional one-game ban following his red card in the draw with Stuttgart at the weekend. Stindl was given his marching orders for picking up a second booking for clashing with Martin Harnik. That would usually carry an automatic one-game ban, but Stindl will instead miss Hanover’s next two games since the referee’s report also stated how he insulted one of the officials on his way off the field.

Racism: A Panamanian player has hit out at Peru’s soccer authorities for doing nothing to stop racism in the country after he walked off the pitch during a top-flight game after being subjected to abuse which he said was going unpunished. Juan Aurich striker Luis Tejada booted the ball into the stands and left the field after 70 minutes of Sunday’s game at Cienciano. “I couldn’t take it anymore and I only walked off after I kicked the ball away in protest and at the impotence I felt when I could see that no one was doing anything,” Tejada said.

Probe: Police have launched an investigation after reports of racist and abusive behaviour from Chelsea fans on a train from London to Manchester on Sunday night. British Transport Police said they were called to meet the train as it entered Stoke station, and asked four men to leave the train. Four others left of their own accord.

Bula goes: Gibraltar have parted company with manager Allen Bula four games into their maiden European Championship qualifying campaign. Gibraltar, who became the 54th nation to join UEFA as a full member in May 2013, have lost all four of their Euro 2016 qualifiers so far, conceding 21 goals and scoring none, and are bottom of Group D.

Primera Liga: Celta Vigo vs Elche 1-1.
