Milan have been hit with a double injury blow as they confirmed yesterday they will be without midfielder pair Nigel de Jong and Riccardo Montolivo for at least two weeks.

The Rossoneri host Verona on Saturday before travelling to Florence to face Fiorentina on March 16 and coach Filippo Inzaghi will have to make do without several key players.

Milan confirmed on their club’s website that de Jong and club captain Montolivo are both expected to be out for the next few weeks.

A statement from Milan read: “Riccardo Montolivo and Nigel de Jong sustained injuries during Saturday’s match away to Chievo.

“Montolivo picked up a hamstring injury and he will undergo further medical tests in a week’s time.

“De Jong, meanwhile, sustained a muscle injury in the back of his thigh. His fitness will be re-assessed in around 10 days’ time.”

Milan have a long injury list with 12 players unavailable for this weekend’s game against Verona.

The Rossoneri have clinched just one win in their last four league games and are 10th in the standings after Saturday’s goalless draw at Chievo.
