Low and middle-income parents can now apply for a benefit of up to €1,200 per child, under the so-called In-Work Benefit scheme.

The benefit was introduced in the last Budget. It applies to couples who both work and earn under €20,400 between them, and single parents who earn €15,000 or less.

A sum ranging from €190 to €1,200 is received per dependent child up to 23 years of age, in a measure aimed at strengthening the concept of “making work pay”.

Those eligible should apply for the benefit at district offices.
