Birżebbuġa Road, in Safi is in a disastrous condition. There are potholes all over the road, including a trench dug up by a farmer to collect rain water. This trench has been transformed into a ‘crater’ owing to the rain and cars running over it.

The potholes are so deep that farmers who use this road are filling them with stones.

Others, including myself, are taking other roads to go to Ħal Far. This is, of course, resulting in higher fuel costs.

One has to consider that these potholes are life threatening.

Most of the rubble walls along this road are over six feet high and if one loses control of the car on hitting one of the potholes one could easily crash into a wall and be buried under the rubble.

Although many residents of Safi have forwarded this complaint to Safi mayor Francis Callus, our request has been ignored and we are feeling being bullied by this attitude.

Through this letter, I am asking for the intervention of the police to ensure this road is restored to a good driving condition.
