BRISCOE. On February 27, at St James Capua Hospital, LYANA, née Vassallo, aged 78, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her devoted husband Gerald, her children Karen and her husband Neil, Peter and his wife Julie, Joanne and her husband Louis, David; her grandchildren Jonathan, Patrick, Stephanie, Luisa, Edwina and Francesca; her brother Neville, sisters Lucienne and Corinne and their families, other relatives and her many friends. The funeral leaves St James Capua Hospital tomorrow at 1.30pm for St Gregory’s parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by burial at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family gratefully acknowledge all the help, kindness and attention given by the medical and support staff at St James Capua. Donations to the Hospice Malta will be greatly appreciated. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved sisters Carmelina and Mary, her brother Joe and his wife Pia, her nephews Alexander, Patrick and his wife Nathalie, her great-grand niece Danica and her fiancé Matthew, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 7am for Our Lady of Sorrows parish church, St Paul’s Bay, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8am followed by interment at the Ħniena Divina cemetery, St Paul’s Bay. CASSAR TORREGGIANI – Capt. FRANCIS, KOMR. WWII veteran, born Vittoriosa, April 4, 1923, passed away February 14, 2015 in Nanaimo, BC, Canada. Predeceased by his wife Benita in 2009. Leaves to mourn his six children, Anne (David) Cavazzi, Patricia Jansen, Peter (Rosanne Garcia), Benita, Victoria and Kim, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers Bill (Mae), Andrew (Judy), sisters-in-law Heather and Claire, many relatives and friends. Interment of ashes in Malta at a later date. May he rest in peace.

On February 25, at Mater Dei Hospital, Major JOSEPH THOMAS CASTLES, aged 93, widower of Irene, after an illness so bravely borne, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss his children Eleonora, Emma, Elizabeth and her husband Roger, Elaine, Edward and his wife Lisa, his grandchildren James, Robert, Ben, Helen, Francesca, George, Emma, Thomas and Adam and numerous friends. MICALLEF. CARMELINA, widow of Charles, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sons Joe and Charles, her only grandson Paul, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence tomorrow at 8am for Santa Luċija parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30am followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. PILLOW. On February 27, WILFRED, widower of Joyce, aged 92. He leaves to mourn his loss his sons Joseph and his wife Lilian and Andy and his wife Nathalie, his grandchildren Audrey, wife of Matthew Camilleri, Marco and his wife Donna, Daniela and her partner Philip, his great-grandchildren Jeremy, Timothy, Aimee, Alfie and Christopher, his only surviving sister Josephine Attard and his sister-in-law Tessie, his niece Pat, wife of Walter Cassar and their children Erika and Denise and their families, his nephew Nicky and his wife Caroline and their children Laura and Christine, who looked after him with so much love and care. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.15am for St Julian’s parish church where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9am. A Mass for the repose of the soul of MARGUERITE MANGION will be celebrated today at 5.30pm at Casa Leone chapel, St Julians. Our family and friends are welcome to attend and to celebrate this Eucharist in her memory.
