St Catherine’s High School, Pembroke, is aiming to break a Guinness World Record of the largest number of people dressed as nursery rhyme characters gathered at a single venue. Students, staff, parents, guardians, relatives, former students and staff and friends will be taking part in the event on Thursday at 9am in the school grounds. The target is to have around 600 participants.

Apart from seeking to set a new world record the event is also aimed at raising money for Puttinu Cares. The school will donate 50c per participant to start the fundraising campaign and participants will be encouraged to donate money on the day.

The rules are that all participants must wear a full costume of the character represented; only characters from nursery rhymes can be used; the rhymes and characters must be from the list approved by Guinness World Records; all participants must be in position simultaneously and remain so for at least five minutes; and to protect the school’s turf pitch, no high heels will be allowed.
