The University has signed agreements with Ernst & Young and Aurobindo Pharma Ltd that will benefit fourth year honours economics and pharmaceutical technology students respectively.

EY will offer two-month summer placements for up to three economics students who would have sat for their final exams and presented their dissertation. The three graduands will work at EY on economics-related tasks with one of them possibly being assigned with the University’s Department of Economics to assist on research carried out by its staff. After their placement EY may recruit the graduands on a full-time basis.

EY and the department will also hold conferences on economic developments in the Maltese economy.

Through a two-year teaching and research collaborative agreement with pharmaceutical company Aurobindo Pharma Ltd, Ħal Far, University students on the BSc (Hons) in Pharmaceutical Technology will carry out an eight-week internship at Aurobindo in every year of their course to gain hands-on experience in the quality control of medications for chemical and microbiological testing, and quality assurance processes in the handling of medications.

Aurobindo Pharma will also collaborate with the Pharmacy department to coordinate the publication of a drug information bulletin and will sponsor an award for best pharmaceutical technology student presentation at the department’s annual pharmacy symposium.
