Bank of Valletta has extended the opening hours for 12 of its branches. These are now open for business from 4.30 to 7pm on specific days of the week.

This strategy, which was introduced a few years ago, was met with a positive response from clients who find it difficult to visit their branch during the normal opening hours. During the extended opening hours, clients are encouraged to set up an appointment with their relationship manager.

This period is primarily dedicated to tailored banking products including bancassurance, investments, stockbroking, home and personal loans and to apply for debit and credit cards. No cashier service is offered during the extended hours.

Nemea Bank launches term deposit interest rates

Nemea Bank has introduced new term deposit rates across the wide spectrum of term deposit products it offers.

The overriding principle in the rates is to reward medium-term savings plans by maintaining highly competitive rates for maturities of over two years, including its four per cent rate for five-year term deposit accounts.

As an online bank, Nemea Bank is able to offer highly attractive rates throughout Europe due to its smart investment strategy and lean operations structure.

Martin Chetcuti, head of sales and deposits for Nemea Bank, commented: “We take pride in offering rates that compete exceptionally across all markets within the EU/EEA area, across borders, jurisdictions and currencies.”

Nemea Bank’s term deposit accounts are fully protected by the EU Depositor Compensation Scheme.

Melita promotes data centre

Melita’s Business team participated in the world’s largest gaming convention – ICE Totally Gaming 2015 – to promote its new state-of-the-art data centre currently under construction in Malta.

ICE was held in London and for the first time ever, attendance broke the 25,000 mark.

The Melita facility is expected to be functional later this month. This project forms part of a €70 million investment that Melita is rolling out over a five-year period.

The first phase of the data centre facility was inaugurated in 2013 and all the available space was taken up within six months. The extension will increase the country’s data centre capacity tenfold and will double Melita’s capacity.

Lamination and binding are among the new services to strengthen the full stationery service for both offices and schools, which also includes photocopying and printing.
