US detectives are investigating the theft of a €133,400 pearl-adorned dress worn by actress Lupita Nyong’o at the Academy Awards.

Los Angeles sheriff spokesman Richard Bowman said the dress was reported stolen from a West Hollywood hotel at around 11.20pm on Tuesday. The ivory Calvin Klein dress featured 6,000 pearls of various sizes.

Detectives are reviewing whether security footage is available that would aid the investigation. Bowman said Nyong’o was present when deputies took a report about the theft.

The 31-year-old actress won an Oscar last year for her role in 12 Years A Slave. She was a presenter at Sunday’s awards ceremony.

Nyong’o’s publicists are not commenting on the theft.

The dress was from the Calvin Klein Collection by Francisco Costa.
