Harry Kane – Tottenham.Harry Kane – Tottenham.

The all-London League Cup final at Wembley Stadium tomorrow will see Chelsea and Tottenham fight it out for the first domestic prize of the season in England.

This will be the third all-London showdown in the history of the competition.

In 2007, Chelsea beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Millennium Stadium and a year later Tottenham toppled Chelsea, in a replica of this season’s final, 2-1 after extra time at Wembley Stadium.

In the 2007 final, Jose Mourinho was in charge at Chelsea before he left for pastures new.

On his return to Stamford Bridge in summer 2013, the Portuguese coach told the media not to expect immediate success on his comeback but added that as from next (this) season his side will be attacking on all fronts.

The only omission so far is the FA Cup, having bowed out to lower side Bradford City at Stamford Bridge 4-2.

Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino is the sixth foreign coach at White Hart Lane, following in the footsteps of Juande Ramos, Martin Jol, Jacques Santini, Christian Gross and Ossie Ardiles.

This is the third time the two managers will clash this season following the Premier League matches at Stamford Bridge 3-0 (Hazard, Drogba, Remy) and the return at White Hart Lane with Spurs on top 5-3 (Kane 2, Rose, Townsend pen, Chadli − Costa, Hazard, Terry).

In addition to the League Cup final of 2008, Spurs and Chelsea met on four other occasions in the competition:

2002 semi-final first leg − Chelsea-Spurs 2-1.

2002 semi-final second leg − Spurs-Chelsea 5-1. Agg: 6-3.

1991 fifth round − Chelsea-Tottenham 0-0.

Replay − Spurs-Chelsea 0-3.

1971 semi-final first leg − Chelsea-Spurs 3-2.

1971 semi-final second leg − Spurs-Chelsea 2-2. Agg: 4-5.

France international Hugo Lloris will probably start in goal at Wembley tomorrow even if he did not feature in the competition for Spurs this season.

Although Pochettino has a dilemma he will not let his mind overrule his heart and install Lloris in goal, the club’s no.1.

The Argentine boss knows about the poor record against Chelsea and he does not want another upset against the Blues because of his decision.

Harry Kane has blossomed at White Hart Lane to become a regular starter for the Spurs. He has been scoring goals like a hungry striker and his credentials have risen significantly particularly with his double in the 2-1 victory over rivals Arsenal earlier this month.

Kane is now dreaming that he will score the goal that matters tomorrow but at the other side of the field Chelsea’s Diego Costa will be relishing his chances of netting a winner that will take the League Cup to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will have to do without the valid Nemanja Matic tomorrow as he starts a two-match ban following a red card in the league last week.

However, the inspirational Cesc Fabregas has returned to the fray following hamstring trouble to give Mourinho more options in midfield.
