Whoever watched Xarabank’s programme on spring hunting must have noticed Saviour Balzan’s continued insistence that hunters had five months in autumn and winter when they can practise their pastime.
At the same time, both he as well as other anti-spring hunting speakers continued to insist that the Maltese and Gozitan people were being denied the joy of going into the countryside during 15 mornings in spring in view of the danger to which they would be exposed because of the presence of hunters.
If Balzan and the other members of SHout have no problem with hunters being in the countryside for five whole months in autumn and winter – when the countryside is just as beautiful as in spring for people to enjoy – why are they making such a fuss about 15 mornings in spring?
