Valletta Subbuteo Club have been crowned Malta champions for the fourth consecutive time after a titanic battle against city rivals Valletta Lions.

Valletta SC made sure of retaining the honour for another year after two days of tense play which also involved the country’s two other top clubs in a competition that was staged at the F.X. Dingli Club in Attard.

Only last October, Valletta SC showed their worth this season when finishing third in the Champions League of Table Football, in Mons, Belgium.

They had a great start to the national championship after beating the Lions 2-1. The performance boosted Valletta SC’s morale as they went on to beat Bormla SC twice and Attard SC on two occasions with convincing scores.

The return match against the Lions proved decisive and a credit to the sport as it featured eight top players in the international rankings.

This time the match finished2-2, giving Valletta SC 16 points after five wins and a draw.

Valletta SC’s next competition will be the Major of Frameries, in Belgium, next month.

Those interested may try their hand at the sport on Thursday evenings at the Embassy Shopping Complex (Level -3) where Valletta SC players meet for training.
