FIFA’s Belgian executive committee member Michel D’Hooghe has been cleared of ethics breaches over the gift of a painting from Russia’s 2018 bid and trying to secure a job in Qatar for the son of a friend.

D’Hooghe, who is also FIFA’s medical committee chairman, was also cleared of allegations that his son secured a job in Qatar on the back of its bid for the 2022 tournament.

FIFA said the adjudicatory chamber of its ethics committee “is satisfied that no further investigation is needed.”

FIFA said a painting given to D’Hooghe by a Russian ExCo member “has no commercial value, as confirmed by two appraisals, and was offered as a friendly gesture.”

It also dismissed claims that D’Hooghe helped his son get a job at a medical clinic in Qatar.
