The Nationalist Party has called on the planning authority to take the “right decision” today on the application to sanction illegal works carried out at a Żejtun farmhouse in an outside development zone by the husband of Equal Opportunities’ Minister Helena Dalli.

The party said it would hold the authority responsible for any wrong decision.

“Equal rights are not simply a title attached to the minister’s name but ought to be the principle on which all decisions are based,” the PN said.

The Mepa board was originally meant to hear the case on February 3 but it was postponed to today because Patrick Dalli was indisposed.

The development breached the original permit on several counts and Mr Dalli was served with an enforcement notice. The farmhouse came into the spotlight after this newspaper reported workers on site despite the enforcement notice.
