The story of three Sicilian pups – Lola, Rosa and Milo – recently caught the attention of many animal activists on Facebook.

Mark Camilleri, a Maltese who owns an agritourism/paddock in Sicily, has been saving animals from horrible fate for the past seven years.

His recent rescue gave birth to the three gorgeous pups in need of a home in a safe place away from Sicily. Sicilian dogs have an average life span of three years, due to animal cruelty and lack of help for stray animals.

Some British clients fell in love with the pups and decided to adopt them. Camilleri said he would pay for all their needs to see them to safety and to good homes in the UK.

After months of planning and generosity shown towards the puppies, they made it all the way from Sicily to Malta and then to the UK. However, due to technical errors, the dogs were quarantined and if bills were not settled, they would have been put down.

Thanks to a group of animal activists, €885 were collected and the puppies’ lives spared.

A Facebook group, ‘The3fromSicily’, was also set up so that everyone could find out about their new lives.
