The Malta Tourism Authority, together with specialist walking tour operator Ramblers Worldwide Holidays, held a bespoke consumer event at the Malta High Commission in London.

Individual consumers and group travel organisers were invited to attend a reception to learn more about Malta.

Ramblers Worldwide Holidays offers more than 250 holidays in over 70 countries and Malta and Gozo walking holidays.

Guests were greeted by MTA and Ramblers officials and were treated to Kinnie cocktails and traditional Maltese delicacies. Malta’s Commissioner to the UK Norman Hamilton welcomed the guests, while Maltese musician Paul Saliba played saxophone tones.

This was followed by a destination introduction by Alex Incorvaja, MTA’s director for the UK and Ireland, followed by a presentation by Ramblers Malta tours managing director Tony Lock.

The event continued with guests enjoying Gozitan wine and canapés, offered by chef George Borg, from whom they learnt the art of making kannoli.

Ramblers Worldwide Holidays joint managing director Kathy Cook said: “We truly enjoyed a marvellous event that was well organised and well attended by many of our prospective and current clients in search of a destination that caters for walking holidays. It was also a great opportunity for Malta and Gozo to showcase the great attributes of the destination, as well as the marvellous local cuisine. I’m sure that the event will result in many visitors choosing Malta as their next holiday.”

Other all-year-round sport-related activities one can find in Malta include the Vodafone Malta Marathon, Nestle Fitness Malta International Challenge Marathon and the X Terra Triathlon.

MTA CEO Paul Bugeja said hosting such events gave the MTA the opportunity to showcase Malta and Gozo’s unique selling propositions within such an important niche segment and placed them at the forefront of holiday choices.

“Through such joint events with Ramblers, the MTA continues to focus on its strategy of nurturing and consolidating partnerships with specialist operators that typically operate programmes in the shoulder and winter periods,” he added.
