For my final article, I am briefly outlining the things you should be doing today and the rules that you and others should be observing tomorrow.

Your to-do list for today:

• Eat plenty of carbohydrates.

• Avoid any unusual food.

• Stay hydrated.

• Stay off your feet, don’t stand around.

• If you feel you need to, go for a short slow jog or walk, no more than 20 minutes, this usually helps.

• Trim your toenails.

• Prepare your gear including your race number, safety pins and transport ticket if you have one.

• Stay relaxed and think positively.

• Plan your breakfast

• Review the course map and go through it in your mind.

• This list serves as a reminder to the more detailed article published on January 24.

Let’s all follow the rules – your safety and fairness are paramount:

• No accompanying bicycles.

• No accompanying pets or children at any stage.

• All Walkathon participants are to start at the back of the starting field.

Slower Marathon and Half Marathon participants should stay back at the start to let the faster runners get away unhindered.

• Unregistered persons are not allowed. These are trespassers or bandits, even if running with somebody else’s number.

• Do not give your number to anyone else to participate with. All numbers must be registered to the persons wearing them.

Other information and things to do on race day:

• Marathon starts at 7.30am from Mdina, booked transport leaves Sliema at 6am

• Half Marathon and Walkathon start at 9.15am from Mdina, booked transport leaves Sliema at 7.45am.

• Stretch and jog lightly to warm up 10 minutes before the start, place your clothes bag in the DHL van that shows the number range of your race number.

• Do not dispose of sponges and bottles into fields, throw them at the side as they will be picked up.

• Besides marshals, there will be a yellow line and orange arrows marked along the route to guide you.

• Do not turn off the route unless you follow the yellow line and orange arrows.

• Do not deface or fold your number.

• Pin your number to the front of your race top.

• Make sure that your number is visible at all times.

• Take the DHL foil blanket given to you as you cross the finish line and wrap it around you to keep warm.

• Use the skips at the finish, do not discard anything on the floor.

• Retrieve your clothes bags from the same DHL van you placed it in.

DHL vans can be found in the car park near the finish line.

Have you registered your race number for your race photos to appear on Facebook?

If not, and you want your race photos uploaded to your Facebook page, then go to Vodafone.com.mt/maltamarathon and enter your race number and continue as instructed.

Thanks to Vodafone and Nestle Fitness, we will be uploading thousands of photos to Facebook. There will be a number of photographers at the start, along the route and at the finish, taking photos.

If you have registered, every time a photo captures your race number that photo will be posted on your Facebook page.

Hence, your number should be visible at all times.

Finally, I would like to thank Vodafone as the sponsor of the 2015 Malta Marathon, San Michel, Urban Jungle, Powerade and Nestle Fitness as the official partners.

Without them supporting the Malta Marathon we would not be able to organise an event of this magnitude.

The Malta Marathon Organising Committee wishes you the best of luck for tomorrow and that it will be a day to remember in many positive ways.
