If you are a wine enthusiast, and one of the things listed on your bucket list was to visit Vinopolis in London, you need to plan it in for this year, as the ‘city of wine’ will be closing its doors for good at the end of 2015.

The wine venue Vinopolis, which opened in 1999 along with its Cantina Vinopolis restaurant next to London Bridge, will be converted into large retail premises.

For anyone interested in learning more about wine before it closes, a visit to this tourist attraction offers a unique wine experience in a relaxed and engaging way.

On arrival at Vinopolis, visitors receive a preloaded debit card with electronic tokens which can be used throughout the visit. A 15-minute introduction shows the fundamental ‘sniff, swirl and slurp’ tasting skills with a free white wine sample.

One is then free to discover the eight tasting and educational zones. One can use the electronic tokens to sample the wines (all served in 25ml measures) or spirits from Enomatic machines. These wines include a range of grape varieties and blends from across the world. Expert wine hosts are also on hand to answer any questions and to make recommendations based on one’s own personal taste profile.
