The Malta Tourism Authority German office has been awarded the tourism trophy “Globus Award”. The awards ceremony dubbed as “Globus Night” was organised by Touristik Aktuell, the top German national travel trade magazine.

This is the fifth time that the MTA was awarded the “Globus Award”. The trophy is conferred to tourist boards providing outstanding service to travel agencies and this year, MTA Germany ranked as the second best out of a total of around 130 tourist boards. Malta achieved this standing among the big tourism players such as Australia and Spain, which ranked first and third respectively.

The results of these awards are determined by votes based on the day to day experiences of travel agents. Their voting patterns reflect their actual experiences with the tourist boards and how their needs were addressed. The voting process was overseen by a panel of tourism professionals.

For this year’s accolade, the MTA’s German office was rewarded for its full engagement with the travel trade, excellent sales support and numerous initiatives undertaken to convey detailed information about the Maltese Islands’ varied holiday offer.

Other initiatives included the regular distribution of a newsletter dedicated to travel agencies, the online training tool “Malta Akademie”, creative travel agent familiarisation trips to the islands and the organisation of road shows and workshops.
