Luis Edison ‘Tarabai’ escaped lightly after he received only a one-match ban following his sending-off in Hibernians’ shoot-out victory over Balzan in last week’s FA Trophy quarter-final.

The prolific striker was dismissed for two yellow cards 13 minutes from the end of Friday’s tie but had to be restrained by team-mates following a heated argument with Balzan’s Oscar Guerrero.

Edison’s furious reaction after being shown the red card led to suggestions that the Brazilian was risking a heavier punishment than the mandatory one-match suspen-sion but that has not been the case.

The one-match ban rules Edison out of Hibs’ FA Trophy semi-final. The Premier League leaders, who beat Balzan 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw, could meet Valletta, Birkirkara or Qormi in the last four.

Mosta’s new signing Ousman Koli was also banned for one game after he was sent off for two bookings in the 3-1 FA Trophy defeat to Valletta.

As Mosta have been eliminated from the cup, Koli must serve his ban in Saturday’s league match against Balzan.
