The President’s Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society and the National Statistics Office are to conduct a survey to examine problematic internet use among 18 to 30 year olds. The study will be conducted through telephone interviews.

The foundation said the internet has become one of the major necessities of life. For the majority of users, the World Wide Web represents opportunity that enhances wellbeing. For others, however, it can lead to problems.

To date, no large scale study has been conducted locally to estimate the prevalence of possible Problematic Internet Use (PIU).

The foundation asked those who receive a phone call from the NSO during this month to cooperate. A random sample of the population will be contacted, and the survey will take around 20 minutes to complete.
