A concert featuring violinist Carmine Lauri and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Brian Schembri, will be celebrating Din l-Art Ħelwa’s golden jubilee at the Manoel Theatre – the very place where it was founded in 1965 – on Saturday.

The MPO will open the concert at 8pm with Carmelo Pace’s Sinfonietta.

Lauri will be performing Henryk Wieniawski’s Polonaise in D Op. 4, Pablo de Sarasate’s Romanza Andaluza Op.22/1, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Waltz Scherzo Op.34 and Henryk Wieniavski’s Violin Concerto No.1 in F minor.

The orchestra will performing Maurice Ravel’s Pavane pour un enfant défunt and Dimitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9 in E flat major, Op. 70.

The concert, under the patronage of President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, is being held with the support of the Manoel Theatre and the HSBC Malta Foundation.

All proceeds will go towards DLĦ’s restoration programmes.
