The Carnival grand finale will go on as planned in St Anne Street, Floriana, this evening, despite rainwater damage to some floats.

Carnival director Jason Busuttil said this will be the first time in four years that the grand finale will go ahead, with the last three editions having been cancelled because of bad weather.

He said some floats were damaged by the heavy rain overnight. Enthusiasts made emergency works but some floats will not have people on them as a safety precaution.
