Last Christmas, I went to visit the mechanical crib at Ġesu’ Nazarenu, Żejtun, as I have the habit of doing every year. However, I was very disappointed this time.

The lighting had been changed and the crib looked so much duller. One could not distinguish individual figures let alone see their movements. It was like a scene in London on a foggy day.

The light, as I can understand, was made up of neon. What a joke to do this with what used to be one of the best cribs on the island.

I hope the crib will be returned to its former glory next year.
