Old firm: The Scottish Professional Football League say it will take no action against Celtic or Rangers over the actions of their supporters during the Scottish League Cup semi-final. The Hoops beat their Glasgow rivals 2-0 at Hampden earlier this month in the first meetings of the sides for three years. But the match was marred by sectarian chants from the Rangers support, while Celtic fans set off flares and unveiled a banner mocking the Ibrox club’s liquidation saga.

Drunk driver: Colombian side Deportivo Cali were forced to abandon their own coach and take a police bus to Sunday’s match against Deportes Tolima after their driver was found to be drunk, the club said. “Our squad had to get to the stadium in a police bus after a routine stop on the road there detected that the bus driver was over the legal limit of alcohol,” the club said. The disruption clearly left the Cali players with a hangover as they lost the match 4-1.

Babacar: Khouma Babacar has reassured Fiorentina fans that he is in negotiations with the club over a contract extension. The 21-year-old forward has been in sensational form for the Viola this season, scoring seven goals and setting up two more in 16 Serie A appearances. “We are working on the contract extension and I don’t believe it will be a problem,” Babacar said. “The fans can be calm. I feel right at home in Florence and at Fiorentina.”

West Brom: Tony Pulis has added goalkeeping coach Jona-than Gould to his backroom staff at West Brom. The 46-year-old will link up with the Baggies today, replacing Dean Kiely who left the club last month. Carlo Nash, who played under Pulis at Stoke, had also been under consideration for the role. Ex-Preston and Celtic keeper Gould, the son of former Wales boss Bobby, joins from Wellington Phoenix of the A-League.

Primera Liga: Eibar vs Elche 0-1.

In Italy: Serie B – Catania vs Crotone 1-1. Lega Pro (Group A) Arezzo vs Mantova 1-0.
