• The Culture Commision of St Philip’s Band Club is organising a day’s outing to Gozo on March 1, leaving from St Philip’s Square, Żebbuġ at 6.45am. The group will be visiting Ta’ Pinu for Sunday Mass, Tal-Mielaħ Valley, Tal-Lunzjata Valley, San Raflu pond and Mġarr Ix-Xini. Lunch will be held at a restaurant in Marsalforn. Tickets, covering transport and lunch, cost €20, or €13 for children aged under 12. They may be obtained from the band club’s bar.

• The German-Maltese Circle Classical Music Group’s next music appreciation evening will be devoted to Austrian composer, cellist and pianist Franz Schmidt. It will be held at Messina Palace, 141, St Christopher Street, Valletta, on Wednesday from 6.30 to 8pm. Martin Spiteri will be giving a presentation on the life and works of the composer, including a recording of his best known orchestral work, Symphony No. 4 (1932-33). All music lovers are invited to attend. Entrance is free.

• As part of its programme of cultural activities for this month, the Italian Cultural Institute is hosting two exhibitions – Shared Traces and Afterselfie. Shared Traces, which was inaugurated on Thursday, will be on display until Friday at the institute, and Afterselfie, inaugurated last Friday, will be on display at the main hall of St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity until March 15.

• The next Malta Adlerian Psychology Association meeting will be held on February 24 at 6.30pm at Le Meridien Hotel, St Julian’s. Br Saviour Gatt will continue his talk ‘The bright side of marriage’.

• The St Joseph Past Pupils’ Association of Sliema is holding a morning retreat at the Preluna Hotel, Sliema, on February 28 at 9.30am. Fr Joe Bartolo will conduct the retreat and celebrate Mass. It will include a coffee break and a five-course buffet lunch. The cost is €25. For bookings, call Many Sciortino on 7933 2839 or Margaret Rizzo on 7933 3121. Booking closes on February 23. Proceeds will be in aid of the association’s missions.

• The Infinitely Xara Wedding Show will be held on February 28 and March 1 from 10am to 8pm at the Xara Lodge, l/o Rabat. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the sales and events team, as well as other wedding experts at the show.
