An article in Times of Malta stated that there has been an increase of 20,000 cars on our roads. This means the authorities are getting large sums of money from car licences that permit them to be driven on our roads.

What is being done to keep our roads in good condition? Nothing.

Who is responsible for road repair and maintenance ? Is it the councils or Transport Malta? If you talk to a council, they will tell you Transport Malta is responsible, and vice versa. Both should realise that it is their duty and responsibility to ensure that our roads have decent surfaces.

Even after so much money was spent to control traffic in Msida one notices large pools of water on the new tarmac after it rains.

Regarding Msida, whose idiotic idea was it to use the right-hand turn (near the boċċi ground) to go to Valletta? This turn is not being used at all now, as cars there would probably have just come from Valletta.

To further compound our misery, traffic is now building up as far as the Bank of Valletta branch, whereas before there was a decent traffic flow. The island that was built practically in the middle of the road will surely cause accidents and will be hit several times, as cars are manoeuvring in order to get in line with the new directions that have been laid out.

After seeing what Transport Malta did at Sliema Ferries and Msida, and considering the additional 20,000 vehicles on our roads, I sincerely hope the authorities will improve their vision for the future. So far they have had no vision at all.
