I was glad to learn through Times of Malta that the Valletta bus terminus is set to double in size in order to handle 40 new routes. The fact sprang immediately to mind that a different official procedure has continued to prevail with regard to Gozo.

Since my mayorship of Victoria well over a decade ago, the council had recommended the introduction of two car parks around the Citadel with a view to easing the parking problem, which has since become more acute.

Notwithstanding the fact that, so far, both areas appear to have been utilised illegally, they have been denied the green light by the competent authorities.

The objections submitted appear to have predominated.

Many Gozitans argue that, since the Valletta ditch has been used as a public car park for decades, there is no justified reason to prevent this same procedure from being adopted in Victoria.

I hope that the enlargement of the Valletta ditch will give a ray of hope to those Gozitans who argue that what is sauce for the Maltese goose should likewise be sauce for the Gozitan gander.
