When one reaches a certain age there are few things that really shock you. However, there are always some that still do.
Last Saturday, I attended a concert of sacred music in the parish church of Floriana. The church was packed and it looked splendid.
I am not going to comment on the standard of the concert, except to say that most of it was very pleasing. I cannot, however, fail to express my feelings of disgust at the way the soprano was dressed.
There she was, in a consecrated place facing a number of church dignitaries and religious and a big crowd of people, dressed in a very immodest dress.
I am not the only one to have felt like that because a lot of negative comments were passed by some that were sitting not far from where I was.
A dress that is suitable for a concert hall is certainly not appropriate for the occasion that was being held that night.
I am very surprised at how the clergy responsible for the organisation, which, I must say, was faultless, could accept someone dressed in such a way.
If tourists try to enter a church sleeveless they are given a scarf to cover their arms. I reckon that some other parts of the female body are more suggestive than arms or legs.
