Conversation between pharmacist and customer:

“I do not understand. Are you really asking me to pay for waiting at your pharmacy?”

“No, the fee is for waiting in the waiting room.”

“Then, I will wait in the pharmacy instead.”

“You still have to pay.”

“But that is not what you just said. If I wait outside, will you call me when it’s my turn?”

“I certainly will not.”

“That is most unfair. I do not want to pay. Can you really do that?”

“Do what?”

“Impose a fee, just for waiting in your waiting room.”

“Of course.”

“Is that legal?”

“Of course.”

“I can remember a time when I did not have to pay for waiting in a pharmacy.”

“Well, now you have to pay.”

“When did this money grab become legal? Do you have this authorisation in black and white? Who regulates the fee? Can you charge as much as you like? What happens if I refuse to pay? Would you call the police and take me to court?”

“You can go to the NHS, you do not have to pay there. It is for free.”

“You are so mistaken.”

“How come?”

“I am a taxpayer, you know.”

You can bet that this is a true story.
