Emirates is offering 50 per cent off a second business class airfare if two people travel together.

Travellers from Malta who buy two tickets to one of 34 selected destinations to the Far East, Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and South America, including Dubai and Cyprus, will pay for one full fare and the second will be half price, excluding taxes.

The offer is open to friends, colleagues or family members and tickets must be purchased by February 23, for travel before June 30, 2015.

“Companion fares give tremendous value and with travellers from Malta setting their sights on long-haul holiday destinations or new business opportunities, now is the chance to take advantage of this offer,” said Emirates Malta manager Paul Fleri Soler.

Business class flights with Emirates include complimentary chauffeur-driven transfers, swift check-in and boarding, 40 kilos of checked baggage, priority baggage handling and access to Emirates Lounges.

Emirates has also been ranked as the best airline in 2014, according to a study by European e-commerce travel company eDreams.

The annual study consisted of more than 90,000 customer reviews worldwide.

Swiss International Air Lines came first in the most comfortable airline category, while Czech Airlines headed the list of best airlines on which to travel with children.

But Emirates swept to the top of most classifications, gaining an overall rating of 4.24 out of 5 in categories including entertainment options and baggage handling.

It came first for overall cleanliness and modernity of aircraft and also received the highest ratings for best in-flight entertainment, best attendant service, best VIP lounges and best baggage handling.

Executive vice president and chief commercial officer Thierry Antinori said: “Being acknowledged by our customers for the hard work and investments that go into our product and positive service attitude both in the air and on the ground, is the most important recognition we can receive.

“We served 47 million customers in 2014 and we are committed to continuing to provide our customers with an unparalleled level of service across all categories.”

The airline has invested billions to enhance the technology on-board, including the introduction of free Wi-Fi on its fleet of 57 A380 planes and a number of Boeing 777 aircraft, with the aim of eventually offering free Wi-Fi across its fleet.

All customers enjoy gourmet meals and transfers through Emirates’s Dubai hub, which was voted as one of the best global airports in the same 2014 study.
