Over €3,000 were raised through Banif Bank’s Casual Fridays initiative to help charities.

The bank’s first three donations were in aid of: a team member who spent two weeks in Naples helping the Sisters of Mother Teresa with underprivileged children; an employee who helped carry out maintenance works on a school in Kenya; and another team member who helped Puttinu Cares through her young nephew’s ‘payback’ gesture.

The team members also bought a laptop for children of St Angela’s House, new water heaters for the Ursuline Creche in Sliema, provided singing and dancing lessons, bought buying bicycle helmets for five boys and helped repair the Millennium Chapel after it was vandalised.

“We have greatly stepped up our initiatives,” said Adrian Coppini, the bank’s chief officer for corporate services.

“Spurred by our team members, we have worked on ideas and schemes involving staff members to create a more empathic workplace and think of others in our community.”
