Sir Michelangelo Refalo Sixth Form, Victoria, organised a memorial evening at the Gozo Ministry exhibition hall to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Nazi Holocaust.

During the event, students staged an excerpt from The Diary of Anne Frank, recited poems, performed a dance and musical pieces from Schindler’s List, The Pianist and Life is Beautiful.

Messages were delivered by the rabbi of the Jewish community in Malta, a representative from the Russian Embassy, the head of the European Parliament Office in Malta and a Gozo Ministry representative.

The soiree ended with the inauguration of a exhibition of student works of art on the Holocaust and photos taken by former student Chris Camilleri at Auschwitz.

The exhibition will remain open until tomorrow.
