Junior College student Sephora Francalanza is one of 28 winners of the EU’s annual translation contest Juvenes Translatores (Young translators).
Twenty-eight sixth form students, one from each member state, were chosen from among 3,000 participants from 740 European schools.
European Commission vice-president Kristalina Georgieva said: “Knowledge of languages unites people because it enables us to communicate across borders and national identities. Languages are an important life skill and will enhance [one’s] career. With this contest, we want to encourage students to learn languages.”
