Hibernians were back to winning ways when they overcame a battling Tarxien Rainbows side 4-1 at the Hibs Stadium.

The Paolites were off to a flying start and after 14 minutes they forged ahead when Luis Edison picked Jorginho inside the area and the Brazilian striker stabbed the ball past Tarxien goalkeeper Jonathan Debono.

Tarxien fought back admirably and on 28 minutes they drew level when Hevia chipped the ball into the path of Mouhamed who burst into the area and slid the ball past Bonello.

Hibs were stunned and they tried to reassert themselves on the match but the Rainbows were working their socks off to keep at bay their opponents Nine minutes from the break, Bonello had to dive to his left to keep out Vallecillo’s shot.

Hibs finished the first half with ten men after Jorginho looked to have picked up a muscle injury.

The Brazilian failed to recover and on the restart he was replaced by new signing Luis Andre.

On 56 minutes Vallecillo tried to surprise Bonello with a shot from the distance which forced a diving save from the Hibs no.1.

Hibs looked to be struggling but on the hour mark they regained their lead.

Edison broke free on the right before sending a teasing cross towards Luis who sent a dipping header into the top corner of the net.

Nine minutes from time Hibs put the game beyond their opponents’ reach when from an Andrew Cohen free-kick, Edison anticipated his marker to direct his header past Debono.

The Paolites had time to add a fourth goal in time added on when Edison was brought down in the area by Pereira and from the resultant penalty Failla drilled the ball home.

Hibs striker Luis Edison was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
