Delicata’s two flagship premium white wines, Gran Cavalier Sauvignon Blanc and Gran Cavalier barrel-fermented Chardonnay from the 2014 vintage, have just been bottled and released from the Delicata winery, after their DOK Malta accreditation.

The Gran Cavalier Sauvignon Blanc, which won three international awards last year (2013 vintage), is once again produced using the maceration pelliculaire method whereby, after pressing, the grape juice is left in contact with the skins to extract maximum flavour that enhances the varietal characteristics of this most delicate of grape varieties. The result is a crisp, refreshing, dry white wine packed with ripe tropical fruit flavours.

The Gran Cavalier Chardonnay in comparison is fuller flavoured and richer on the palate, with subtle hints of vanilla coming from its brief time in new 225-litre French oak barriques during its barrel fermentation.

The Gran Cavalier range of wines, first launched in the year 2000, consists of two white wines and two red wines, all made exclusively from hand-picked, selected, Malta-grown, noble grape varieties, which between them have won 13 awards from international wine competitions held in France, Italy and the UK.
