CAMILLERI. On January 30, CARMELA, nèe Pace, from Balzan passed away peacefully at Karen Grech Hospital, aged 91, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband Joseph, her children Godfrey and his wife Victoria, Evelyn and her husband John, Patrick and his wife Carmen, Doris widow of Joseph, Ġorġina and her husband Mario, Charles and his wife Sonya, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren, her brother Emanuel and his wife Ġiża, her sister Imperia widow of Emanuel, her in-laws and their families, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Jessie, née Buhagiar, his sons Tonio and his wife Martha and Joseph and his wife Rita, his grandchildren William, Marie Noelle, Thomas, Jonathan, Leah and Edward and their respective fiancés, his sister Nina Galdes and her children, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Commemoration of Archbishop Mauro Caruana

To commemorate the first centenary of the episcopal consecration of Mauro Caruana, OSB, as Archbishop of Malta in 1915, a soiree will be held at the Mdina Cathedral on Friday at 7pm by the Metropolitan Chapter and the Foundation for Theological Studies. Apostolic Administrator Charles Scicluna will preside the event.

Fr Nicholas Joseph Doublet will provide an evaluation of Mgr Caruana’s episcopate through his pastoral letters and Lorenzo Botrugno from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Milan, will speak about State-Church conflicts during his time.

Afterwards, an exhibition of objects connected with Mgr Caruana will be inaugurated at the Cathedral Museum.
