Speaking during the energy debate in Parliament, the Prime Minister stated that “the concrete results were being felt in people’s pockets”.

However, a few weeks ago, the President asked for urgent steps to reduce poverty among families and the NSO said that almost 25 per cent of the Maltese population are within the poverty level.

Now the Alfred Mizzi Foundation is to introduce a soup kitchen as part of the centenary celebrations of the Alf. Mizzi & Sons Ltd Group for those whose pockets are empty and who are deprived of a simple hot meal.

To cap it all, a Labour MP recently called for a statutory minimum pension for those pensioners who cannot make ends meet.

All this points to only a very few who are “feeling any results in their pockets”. Capitalism at its best.
