Foreign words in Maltese, these should be written in italics. They should never be ‘bastardised’ by transcribing phonetically into Maltese such as kejk instead of cake, trajfil for trifle or tijm for team.

Hopefully, one might learn what the correct English or foreign words are.

The biggest culprits are the semi-literate people who comment online. Most of them are not able to write correctly in either Maltese or English.

Website editors and proofreaders have a duty towards their readers to provide the correct orthography in whatever language is being used, or else politely decline to publish such contributions.
