A truck toppled over as a ferry was crossing from Malta to Gozo in rough seas this morning.

The truck was parked at the back of the car deck. No further damage was caused and no one was injured.

The incident, which is being investigated by Transport Malta, happened shortly after 7.30am.

The Met Office has warned of a strong wind and rough seas for most of today.

Gozo Channel said in a statement just after 11am that following the incident, the Gaudos had now resumed service and it was operating trips according to schedule.

The Gozo Business Chamber aired its concern about the grave consequences the incident could have had.

It said it highlighted the vulnerability of the link Gozo, as an island, presently enjoyed, with the ferries and the need for alternative means of transport.
