The Malta FA have decided to back FIFA vice-president Prince Ali for this year’s presidential elections at the world governing body of football.

MFA president Norman Darmanin Demajo told the association's council members today that during the past weeks, he was inundated with backing requests from the various candidates for this year’s elections.

“We received several requests to give our backing to various candidates for the FIFA presidential election,” Darmanin Demajo said at the Centenary Hall in Ta' Qali.

“After holding several meetings and discussed thoroughly the subject we came to the decision to back Prince Ali, of Jordan, for this year’s election.

“I have great respect for Prince Ali who is a very down-to-earth person and who uses a lot of his powers to help the persons in need and that is something I admire a lot.”

The FIFA presidential elections will be held on May 29 with present incumbent Sepp Blatter seeking a fifth term in the office.
