A Serb was this afternoon handed a suspended sentence after he pleaded guilty to threatening his flatmates with a penknife and slightly injuring one of them, who he assaulted with a chair.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening in an apartment in Sliema, which the man shared with Macedonian nationals.
Strahinja Vukosavljevic, 31, admitted to threatening Aheta Ctamehoba, Filip Acevski and Vlatko Georgievski during a drunken rage. He also admitted to slightly injuring the latter, who he hit with a kitchen chair, and to breaching the peace.
He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a false identity card, disobeying police orders and threatening and offending the police at the Sliema police station.
Magistrate Neville Camilleri jailed the man for eight months suspended for two years and fined him €1,000. The court was informed that the police will be deporting him after he pays the fine.
Police Inspector Jason Sultana prosecuted while lawyer Roberto Montalto appeared for the accused.
