The Nationalist Party has filed a protest with Public Broadcasting Services saying the national station was trying to strangle the Opposition’s message by acting as a gatekeeper for the government.

In its protest, the PN referred to a news item about an elderly man who died in a hospital corridor yesterday and said that in its news item the station used the phrase ward extension instead of corridor.

The station did this to serve the government’s interests, hide and change facts, the party said.

The PN said the station also reported that there were a lot of interruptions in Parliament when the case was being discussed.

The truth was, the PN said, that government ministers started shouting and insulting the Opposition not allowing its members to speak.

What PBS reported, the PN said, was not factual and unacceptable.

A copy of the PN’s letter to PBS editor Reno Bugeja can be read in the pdf link below.
