The anti-democratic behaviour of the Federation for Hunting and Conservation (FKNK) is an additional reason to vote no in the upcoming spring hunting referendum on April 11.

The members of FKNK despise democracy and freedom of expression.

Only last week, the federation lodged a strong protest against comments posted on the Attard local council Facebook page by vice-mayor Marco Spiteri and local councillor Ralph Cassar, where they publicly stated they will be voting against spring hunting.

People have every right to express their opinion and their beliefs on any subject. This is not unethical.

The only thing that’s illegal is spring hunting. No boycott, no protest, no threats from the FKNK will stop people from expressing their opinions.

The FKNK went a step further when some months agoit attempted to convinceParliament through a petition to remove the right to an abrogative referendum.

And now, the members of the federation are trying to mislead the public by spreading misinformation about spring hunting and frightening others by telling people that if they vote no to spring hunting, their own hobbies will be targeted as well.

For the two main political parties, the “no hunting, no vote” threat is still in place.

Neither of the party leaders is interested in enhancing democracy. On the contrary, their main interest is how to appease this bunch of people to take their votes.

Absolutely disgusting.
