The UHM expressed concern today about whether the fuel market was truly liberalised after reports that a Rabat petrol station that intended to reduce prices was pressured not to do so.

It said in a statement that if the market was being dominated, this went against EU rules on market liberalisation , undermining the people’s right to choose.

The union called on the Competition Authority to investigate and to ensure that market rules were observed.

It also called on the government to explain in the MCESD how oil was being procured and how prices were being determined.
