The Energy Ministry said this evening that the fuels market in Malta was liberalised and all those in the market were free to compete on prices.

The ministry was referring to claims by a Rabat station owner that he had to scrap plans to cut the diesel price by 2c after the supplier contacted him and demanded he restored the price after the company received complaints from other fuel stations.
