Transport Minister Joe Mizzi said the Opposition was wrong when it said the McGill company, which had expressed interest in running public transport, wanted to meet bus drivers but the government tried to keep the meeting under wraps.

The government had not even been advised of the planned meeting, Mr Mizzi insisted. The PN had also said it was difficult for National Express, another interested operator, to work with the government. However, it should be known that Autobuses de Leon was a subsidiary of National Express, he noted.

Mr Mizzi was answering a parliamentary question by Jason Azzopardi (PN).
